Whats the difference between a medical assistant and a nursing assistant?
Mandy asked:
Just wondering what the diff is, and is there extra training for one or the other?
I have my CNA’s but have seen a job for a MA, thats why i wonder about the training.

A med asst. works in a doctor’s office.
A nursing asst. works in a hospital.
For general career info: and can type into search.
The MA is usually a longer training period, however, there are Not supposed to be too many jobs for MAs (or medical billers or coders) despite what those private $$ career/tech for-profit schools say. The nursing field is supposed to have a high burn-out rate, and that includes all levels in the industry.
The training is completely different, and a MA trains for about 8-9 months. They learn front & back office tasks and very little true nursing tasks that a CNA does. They learn to assist a provider in a clinic or office. They give shots & meds, do EKGs, draw blood etc. For the most part, CNAs are not qualified for a MA position.
