Is going into a Specialist filed like OBGYN,Pulmonary Lung, Dermatology, Dental Assisting, or Orthopedics better for a Certified Medical Assistant?
I heard CMAs generally will make more money in a specialized physicians Group than they would at a family practice.
Of course experience plays a big roll to.
I leave in Atlanta GA and the min Salary for a new CMA in a none specialists Group
is between 12-15
I know Of other CMA in the specialized physicians group listed above that are making 16 and 18.
So is it true across the board that CMAs working at a specialized physicians group will most likely make more than those who are not?

Hi, I just graduated at the top of my class from my Medical Office Assistant school. I worked my butt off, got excellent grades, and now I’m ready to work! I’ve sent out so far 30 applications. I’ve got 2 interviews lined up next week. One is for a Veterinary Receptionist position at an Animal Hospital, the other is for a Medical Records Clerk at a Psychiatric & Substance Abuse Care Facility. Animals are my passion in my life, so I always want to be around them. But the other thing is that in this day and age the will to survive and support yourself, is well kinda stronger.
I live around Buffalo, NY and I seem to be getting conflicted salaries. I’m just wondering which makes more. And really what are the best questions to ask an employer for both positions, and what questions can I be expected to answer?
I already plan to ask the medical coverage for both positions. My dad wants to retire soon, so at least he’d only have to worry about my brother, and if I can take care of myself, well that would be just great.
Thanks in advance for answering! Happy Holidays!

I just cant make up my mind. I wanted to take a Vet. Assistant course and also Medical Administrative Assistant courses at different times. I dont know which to do first.
The Vet. Asst. course is only 102 hours with 30 hours clinical training. The Med. Adm. Asst. courses are gonna take 2 years to complete. Can anyone tell me their experience with these jobs? Whats the pros and cons? Salary? Hours?Im asking about hours cuz I have a 5yr.old son and my classes/work would have to be mostly daytime.
I really want to be a Vet. Asst.at least to try it out and see if its something I want to do long term. I want to do it so much that Im considering volunteering at the SPCA. Im only 23 so Im not 100%sure what I want to do forever, but I have to be extra responsible about my choices because of my son.
Thanks.
