Online school- what’s a good option for medical assistant office?
Mamacita asked:
I want to do an online school for medical assisting in an office but am not sure on which online college is right and acceptable. I’m worried about becoming trapped in one of those mill run colleges that give degrees/certificates to anyone and in the long run, aren’t creditable. Any ideas?

Harrison College offers a lot of options in the medical field, and one of those is an Associates degree in medical-assisting. They are accredited and offer fully-online programs or campus-classes or a blend of both. They do accept financial aid from the government and student loans. Job placement is quite high – I’m a student there, and each quarter they state the graduates and where they’re working now. Good luck!
As long as the college (online or campus based) is regionally accredited, any degree you earn should be accepted by any potential employers or other academic institutions.
My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.
This site has some good info on regionally accredited online degrees in medical assisting and some colleges that offer them to help expand your search:
I think you can enter your info on there for any colleges you are interested in and they will send you more info for free. Good Luck!
i wouldn’t do classes for medical assisting. i wanted to do that too until my sister who works at kaiser told me that LVN’s will soon be replacing medical assistants and soon there won’t be much of a need for them. I also know some friends who are medical assistants and they’ve been asked to either further the education and pursue another career.
