Medical Assistant and Hemodialysis technician program?
Babycakes asked:
There is a vocational school here where i live in Michigan that offers a Medical Assistant /Hemodialysis program together that is 10 months long. Should i attend this program at this school? This vocational school is very expensive. They are asking for $13,000 for the program. I have been reading on line about quite a few MA’s who have said that they are having a difficult time with finding employment once completing their training. The school has told me that they have an 84% job placement rate. Can someone please tell me whether or not i would be making the right decision by attending this school? Should i just become a CNA instead since i have heard that it is more easier to find a job in that field than it is as an MA?

I think that alot of it depends on where you live and what hours you are willing to work! If you become a MA, you are more likely to work in a dr’s office having better hours! NA have crappy hours (usually)and definately don’t get paid for what they do! I would go to school…and you should consider RN..too~ Good luck!
Please forgo those private $$ schools especially for MA which there are limited jobs for these days. I’m not sure about dialysis tech and the opportunities out there. Just about all schools, especially the expensive ones, tout how they have a high success rate of employment and that they help with job search, however, they don’t usually have more leads than the local sunday paper or a job site. I would suggest looking into the county vo-tech school or community college. Please keep in mind that the job of a cna may be very mentally and physically exhausting.
