I’m going to school to be a medical assistant?
YO Mama asked:
I’m told it’s a waste of money because of on the job training. Now my sister’s a dental assistant and she does things that someone without training won’t get to do. Does anyone know about this?

i know there is a huge demand for nurses out there, if you study nursery your future job is guaranteed, but the environment is not really exciting, its up to you
If you are learning something that is interesting to you , keep going to school, you can get a job with your training, none of it is ever wasted, there will be a place for you.
Being a dental assistant requires some training. But every office runs in a different capacity so it’s self taught – and you take dental x-rays and should be certified to do this too -
(state testing).
Being a medical assistant is sort of the same thing. Although some practical courses are good to learn how to lift the patient properly – and offer first aide – etc.
The medical field is a place where there is always a job.
People are always going to be sick, recovering, dying or being born – and they need people to care for them.
I’m in college to become a medical assistant right now and I know that the job field is on the rise. Its expected to increase about 30% in the next year or two. So by the time training is done I shouldnt have to worry about not being able to find a job.
The program is great and it is NOT a total waste of money. You learn many things in this program that you could not learn on your own. Examples: Medial terminology, anatomy/physiology, stuff like temp., blood pressure, catheders, drawing blood, giving immunizations, ECG’s, etc. Its a very good program and I really thoroughly enjoy it.
If you have any questions about it please feel free to email me and I’ll be glad to answer them!
