I am a certified medical assistant, but with little field experience. Why don’t employers want to hire?

I graduated at the top of my class, became certified through the State of California, but there is little to no employment offers being sent my way. I went back to school to better my self career wise, sometime’s doctor’s should just take a chance once and a while.

Sadly to say you need to seriously know someone in the medical field to get a job, depending on what you are of course. With a CMA, depending on the state i could be a little hard to find a job.
I live in NY and i graduated over a year ago in medical administration and no one still is hiring me…the best thing to do is to find some connections to get where you want to go in life.
It’s not always what you know, but who you know. If HR and hiring managers got 100 resumes, wouldn’t it be easier to consider somebody that knows somebody at your workplace? Unfairly, I see a lot of students interning for positions they don’t never even majored in. I know this guy that holds a very high position in his company. He never went to college or got any certification. He knew somebody! Not to say that people are unfairly working in those positions, but they got their foot in the door, and worked hard. It’s really crazy because in the work world, you’re gonna be asking yourself why you work so hard, and you’re sitting next to somebody who don’t even have half of your education.
Try and get some volunteer experience and get some experience in this field. That might help you get some better chances. Also you could try and go to your practicum coordinator from your program, and ask if they can help you get a practicum or internship so that you’re able to get the experience.
